Bau, where is a heaven for gold miners back in the 19th century, is one of the earliest settlement in Sarawak. Sarawak was under the Brooke's rule in 1841. After the first White Rajah Sir James Brooke governed Sarawak for more than 10 years, he started to surpress Chinese miners. The changes in Brooke's administration outraged the Chinese miners and this resulted in a rebellion.

PART 1 - Ancient Temples in Bau
This documentary tells the stories of old temples which were set up by the Chinese miners in Bau during the early days. Years have passed and most of the temples have been rebuilt and refurnished with the help and cooperation from the locals. Until today, many locals still have great faith and believe for the deities.

PART 2 - Bau Chinese Rebellions Legacy
Bau is a place where many Chinese miners shed their sweat and blood. These documentary introduces the history of Chinese rebellion in Bau against the White Rajah in 1857. Sarawak was under the Brooke's rule in 1841, after the first White Rajah Sir James Brooke governed Sarawak for more than 10 years, he started to suppress the Chinese miners.
The changes in Brooke's administration outraged the Chinese miners and this resulted in a rebellion. However, the Bau's Chinese Rebellion in 1857 failed. About 3000 Chinese were killed and the remaining retreated with their families and belongings and escaped to West Kalimantan, Indonesia.
The exodus left Mau San area in Bau with three temples. The Bau Chinese Rebellion was a historic event in Sarawak and the ancient temples built by the miners serve as a reminder of the struggles for survival in the early days.
